Here's one of my licks... it uses the b5 and #5 of it's related major scale to get an augmented sound.

In the key of Bb the flat 5th is E and the augmented 5th is F#... these are also the 4th and 5th notes of a Bb augmented scale.

 

To expand on this idea you can try a Bb augmented scale over the same progression. Mix the Bb Augmented with your standard Bb Major / C Dorian.
